MCEF Response to Nesbitt Energy Bills

LANSING – Larry Ward, executive director of the Michigan Conservative Energy Forum (MCEF), issued the following statement regarding Rep. Aric Nesbitt’s energy bills:

“The MCEF applauds Rep. Nesbitt for recognizing the importance of transitioning from coal to cleaner, homegrown sources of energy and moving Michigan toward an “All of the Above” energy policy. However, we can and must be bolder with our approach.

“We strongly support an expansion of the state’s current energy optimization standard, and look forward to working with Gov. Rick Snyder, Rep. Nesbitt and Sen. Mike Nofs to ensure that reducing energy waste is a key pillar of energy reform legislation passed this year. As conservatives, we feel that reducing energy waste is the simplest, most affordable and actionable way to save money for Michigan businesses and families. I look forward to engaging in the energy dialogue in Lansing over the coming weeks and months.”
