Michigan’s Conservative Voice for Clean Energy

Our Mission

The Michigan Conservative Energy Forum is dedicated to promoting common-sense, market-based energy policies that foster competition, diversification and continued technological advancement.

We work to reduce economic and political barriers to energy innovation through education, research, policy advocacy and collaborative partnerships, ensuring all customers have access to clean, affordable and reliable energy for homes, businesses and transportation.

Our Goals

Over its history, MICEF’s identity has been carefully considered and distilled into five distinct roles, each of which drives its goals and activities into a new decade of leadership in the Clean Energy conversation in Michigan. Those roles include:

  1. Policy Player

  2. Political Player

  3. Ratepayers’ Champion

  4. Public Educator

  5. Industry Connector

Our Story

Since its inception in 2013, the Michigan Conservative Energy Forum (MICEF) has rapidly grown and diversified its range of activity and influence. Strategic planning along the way has guided our efforts, allowing us to become effective advocates for conservative clean energy policy and a respected voice in Michigan’s energy discussions. MICEF’s leadership held its first strategic planning session in August 2016 when the organization was still in a mode of rapid evolution, moving into various advocacy lanes and activities as the need and opportunities presented themselves.

At the time, Michigan’s legislature was drastically revising the state energy laws, and MICEF seized the opportunity to play a significant role in the shaping of Michigan’s energy future. MICEF’s involvement in the 2016 energy law rewrite certainly shaped our strategic planning and reinforced our development into an effective advocacy organization.By spring of 2018, MICEF’s continued growth and transformation prompted the scheduling of another strategic planning session for August of 2018. At that session, the mission statement and key “branding” messaging were revised to better reflect our current capacity and role as an established member of the Michigan energy advocacy community.

Today, MICEF advocates for energy solutions that increase access to clean, affordable and reliable energy statewide. MICEF is a founding member of a growing network of conservative state-level organizations, Conservative Energy Network (CEN), that promote clean energy and energy waste reduction to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, protect and responsibly use our natural resources, while improving energy reliability and enhancing national and grid security. We believe free markets are the key to continued innovation and technological advancements in energy production, distribution, storage and efficiency. We know that the job creation and economic growth sparked by a diversified, clean energy policy don’t have to come at the expense of our environment. We are committed to bridging partisan differences on energy issues, paving the way for Michigan to be a national clean energy leader.
